The collapsing US military & economic empire is making Washington & NATO even more dangerous. US could not beat the Taliban but thinks it can take on China-Russia-Iran...a sign of psychopathology for sure. We must all do more to help stop this western corporate arrogance that puts the future generations lives in despair. @BruceKGagnon

DRUGGING THE TROOPS

The so-called all volunteer Army at work - they are having to drug the troops in order to keep them on the battlefield. The GI's are suffering from depression, are worn out, need to come home and get mental health treatment.

Instead the politicians from both corrupt political parties pat them on the back, call them heroes, put a bigger flag on the podium in Congress, and announce they will soon approve another war supplemental to the tune of $33 billion (in order to take care of the troops of course) and send them back to war - with pills in hand.

This is what empires do, they don't give a damn about the troops. They just want the GI's bodies and the killing they do in order to benefit the multi-national corporations who are getting rich off this war in Afghanistan, which is now the longest war in U.S. history.

The politicians who fund and justify these wars make me sick.

Latest Afghan War Poll: The Washington Post reports on a new war poll. Overall, 53 percent say the war is not worth its costs, a new high in Post-ABC polling.

A modification on their usual Modus Operandi. People in the service who don't drink alcohol are actually considered suspect. Something about Pub Camaraderie.

Actually my thought is that it enhances suggestibility and depresses feelings of Conscience, the same reason guys have been buying drinks for women for the past 5 millennia. Armies the world over know the effect and use it to prey on their recruits,
The LSD experiments and the not-very-fictionalized "Jacobs Ladder" story are just an extreme phase of that.

A quicker tie in, Eli Lilly manufactured (and tested it on "volunteers" ahem..) LSD as a psychiatric medication. Talk about a win-win deal for the Corporations. They used it to treat amongst other things Depression, childhood autism and schitzophrenia They must have made a boatload of it too, because there were still people selling it in the 70s a decade after it was made illegal.

I know they supply the Star Pharmaceutical Attractions in the Texas prison system for treating inmates displaying such "psych" ailments as Rebelliousness and non-cooperative and non-compliant behaviors. Stands to reason they would have an even larger market in the Military, and wouldn't hesitate to take full advantage.
